How does the consent process work for the 3B-NEO test? Do both parents need to consent?
- Consent is completed through an online consent process at the time of test ordering. Prior to testing, you can review and complete consent after thoroughly confirming the test purpose, scope of analysis, limitations, and data usage based on clinician guidance.
- Legally, consent from one legal guardian is sufficient to proceed with the test, and 3B-NEO initiates analysis only upon confirmation of written (online) consent from one legal guardian.
- However, as confirming a child’s genetic information is an important decision related to the family’s future, it is recommended that both parents discuss and reach a consensus before ordering, whenever possible.
- 3billion provides all necessary information through clinicians throughout this decision-making process and respects the thoughtful choice that guardians make for the health of their child.
