When should mothers be informed that they can request 3B-NEO?
- During pregnancy (recommended):
Expectant mothers may request the test at any time during pregnancy. However, it is most strongly recommended to provide counseling and obtain consent after 16 weeks of pregnancy (the stable period), when the mother is physically and emotionally more stable and able to receive sufficient consultation. Completing the request before delivery allows testing to begin immediately after birth, enabling the fastest possible turnaround time for results.
- After birth: The test may also be requested and performed within the first 3 months after the baby is born.
- As 3B-NEO is designed to screen for conditions that may require immediate intervention during the neonatal period, it is highly recommended to arrange testing before delivery or immediately after birth in order to establish the earliest possible roadmap for the child’s lifelong health.
